SEND Youth Forum

Overview
The SEND Youth Forum, facilitated by SENDIASS, aims to provide children and young people with an opportunity to influence the SENDIASS service, develop their skills, meet other young people and develop meaningful connections.
Support available
Meetings currently take place virtually and details are sent directly to young people before each meeting.
Some young people may take part in projects that are important to them. These may be face to face or virtual.
Sessions last for 1.5 hours. Young people do not have to take part in the full session; they can just join to say hello, or catch-up on a particular topic.
What we will do in the next 12 months
- Coproduce shared learning events for young people. These will focus on what is working well, and what can be improved.
- Conduct an annual review of what the service provides for young people, including how this could be improved and better communicated with other young people.
- Provide young people with the chance to participate in opportunities that give them the chance to share their views.
- Plan and deliver the annual service 'Information, Advice and Support in South Tyneside' event as part of Learning Disability Week; ensuring the event meets the needs of young people and has their direct input.
- Host a mix of online and in-person events as part of the SEND Youth Forum.
