Overview
The service offer safe and inclusive youth led sessions for young people aged 8 to 17 years old, with special educational needs (SEND) / additional needs to:
- meet new people
- engage in fun activities
- take part in topic-based projects
- have a safe space to talk and relax
The youth sessions are youth-led.
Young people are involved in the session planning to make sure the service provide activities that interest everyone who attends.
The youth project is based in Jarrow Focus.
Support available
The sessions are only for young people with SEND / additional needs.
The sessions are limited to 10 young people, to make sure young people have the right level of support.
Who can access the service
The youth project is open to young people aged 8 to 17 years old who have SEND / additional needs.
You don't need a diagnosis.
How to access the service
Referrals can come from services / schools and self-referrals.
You can get a referral form by emailing the service and asking for one.
Once a referral has been received, staff will check to see if there is current space in the sessions for the young person, then parents / carers will be contacted with a start date.
If there is no current availability, parents / carers will be informed and will be placed on a waiting list.
