Overview
A service for children and young people that need a specialist assessment and / or treatment for mental health difficulties.
The team works with:
- Psychiatrists
- Nurses
- Psychologists
- Occupational Therapists
Support available
The team offers therapies and interventions including:
- Cognitive behaviour therapy
- Family therapy
- Child and adolescent psychotherapy
- Dialectal behaviour therapy
Neurodevelopmental difficulties
Neurodevelopmental assessments are offered for Autistic Spectrum Condition (over 5 years) / Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
Treatment / support is given for mental health difficulties in addition to Neurodevelopmental differences, including TIC Disorder.
Learning difficulties
Clinicians provide assessments and interventions for children and young people with a learning disability, mental health difficulty and / or challenging behaviour.
The service offers a range of specialist interventions which include Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Confident Parenting and Special Friends Group.
Intensive Community Treatment Service (ICTS)
The ICTS provides home-based treatment for children and young people, to prevent admission to a mental health impatient hospital.
They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)
The CEDS assess children and young people with eating disorders and offer community-based treatment packages with the aim is to avoid impatient admission.
The service also offers school / clinic settings and home visits.
Who can access the service
Children and young people aged 18 or under, who are showing signs of psychological distress, or severe mental health difficulty that impacts their daily life.
How to access the service
All referrals are through Lifecycle.
A referral will only be reviewed if the child / young person has been seen by the referee within Lifecyle.
All referrals are reviewed to decide next steps.
If the referral to CYPS is appropriate the family are contacted by telephone to arrange an assessment. Please discuss any special adjustments at this point.
