Overview
The service works with children / young people and their families, to understand their needs and what support can be provided.
The service can:
- provide information to children / young people and their families so they can make their own choices
- involve people in the management of a child's / young person's epilepsy
- provide support, help and advice on specific topics, such as drug treatment, social and leisure activities, travel, holidays and benefits
- provide training to children / young people and anyone who support them, to make sure they get the best care
Support available
The service work with you and your child on an individual basis.
They consult and work with health professionals and non-professionals involved in your child's care, to make sure you get the support you need.
Who can access the service
Children who:
- are aged 0 to 16 years old or 18 years old, if in full time education and have special needs
- live in South Tyneside
- have a diagnosis of epilepsy, or are at risk of developing epilepsy
How to access the service
Referrals can be made through a child's consultant or diagnosing practitioner.
