The hospital learning disability and Autism team are here to support people who have a learning disability, Autism or both when they need to come into hospital.
Support available
The service supports people who have a learning disability, Autism or both in hospital.
Their services include:
- support to patients throughout their hospital journey
- support to patients, families and carers
- easy read and accessible health information
- encouragement for person centred healthcare for people with a learning disability, Autism or both
- promotion of equal healthcare for people with a learning disability, Autism or both
- education and training for our hospital staff
- improvement of knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability, Autism, or both
- helping hospital staff to identify what reasonable adjustments are needed for our patients
- helping hospital staff to put reasonable adjustments in place
- an easy read information sheet (document) about getting ready to come into hospital
- welcoming feedback about your experiences
- signposting to further support as needed
Who can access the service
This service is for adults.
It provides support for adults who have a learning disability with or without Autism from the age of 18.
How to access the service
This service accepts referrals for outpatient appointment planning.
