Overview

The Tree Tops Team help make a difference to children's lives by working with families, schools and health professionals.

The team can help children and adults who have difficulties and / or conditions, including:

  • Sensory processing disorder (SPD)
  • Independent life skills (dressing, feeding)
  • Development co-ordination disorder (Dyspraxia)
  • Visual perception difficulties
  • Fine motor difficulties
  • Autistic spectrum disorder
  • Asperger's syndrome
  • Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Down's syndrome
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Sensory attachment intervention
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Feeding difficulties (SOS approach to feeding, Dr Toomey)
  • Fidgeting
  • Challenging behaviours

Support available

The service works with mainstream and specialist schools for assessments and intervention programmes.

This includes:

  • Motor skills
  • Sensory diet programmes
  • Strategies / advice in the classroom

Parent support group

The service runs a support group for parents of children with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) offering:

  • advice
  • networking
  • meetings
  • education
  • strategies

They aim to improve the lives of children through education and global awareness of SPD.

Who can access the service

Anyone aged 0 to 70 years old, with:

  • Sensory processing difficulites
  • Dyspraxia / developmental coordination disorder

How to access the service

Referral from:

  • Families
  • NHS
  • Schools
  • Autistic units
  • Children's homes
  • Councils
  • Adoption support fund
